New camera!
Terms and agreements for uploading images now? o_o... fishy
Last week I went to JB hi-fi with my parents, long story short, he bought a Nikon D90 and I got a D60 which was on sale!
Quick review - At first there were a couple of things I didn't really like about the D60. First of all there is no live preview, i.e. you HAVE to use the view finder when taking images. Secondly, the LCD seems to be on battery-save overdrive, and turns off if you stop doing anything for a split second! And there is no movie mode, however that didn't really bother me.
But as I got to using the camera, I'm starting to like it more and more. It could just be what we learned as the mere-exposure effect. No pun intended :o
Anyway, it takes gorgeous pictures. Compared to my dad's D90, other than size, the photos did not differ in any way. So at my level of expertise, I would say that the D60 is perfect in terms of function and affordability.
Now, compared to my old Sony f717... quality wise, Nikon fails completely. I never took to appreciating how well the F717 was made until now. The parts (Japanese) were so fine and delicate whereas the Nikon is more like a heavy-duty off-road camera. Not to mention the body is made in Thailand and the Lenses are actually made in China :/ bit of a bummer. I was a little careless when buying but who would expect a Japanese camera to be made in Thailand. Sigh
Anyway, the F717 is an old uncle now. It's only 5 mp and ISO only goes up to 600/800 (I forget). A little run-down, the white balance also goes a little nuts at the best of lighting conditions.
